David’s Tea House, Baguio

We arrived in Baguio drenched by the crazy typhoon weather. With the intense fog, rain, and wind, going sight-seeing is the worst idea so far. So instead of spending the afternoon in the hotel, and since our stomachs were already grumbling, we decided to have lunch.

We wait outside while customers fill the inside of the restaurant.

Little did we know that going to the mall wasn’t also such a good idea either. Why? Everyone seems to be in panic mode. Dozens of people are queued for the next taxi cab. Escalators were not working at all (since the mall is mainly open air) and some shops opted to close because of the creeping fog. But insistent we were, so we still chose to stay and eat. David’s Tea House is found at the second floor of SM Baguio. It was our best bet. With a only a few restaurants available for dining, David’s attracted a lot of customers. We had to wait a while and so we did.

THE FOOD

This is the Hot and Sour Soup. It has mushrooms, egg, hot pepper, and stuff that I'm not really sure of. The taste is what its name says. It's quite good though I'm not fond of the hot and sour combination.

This is the Sauteed Bok Choi (Taiwanese Cabbage) sprinkled with crunchy garlic bits. This one tasted good. The veggies were really fresh and flavorful. The leaves are soft yet the bottom has a bit of crunch. I liked this.
Chao Fan Rice or Chinese Fried Rice with the traditional green peas, egg, chorizo, and shrimps. I've tasted better Chao Fan in other Chinese restos in Manila. This one was okay.
And this is the dish I simply cannot live without. In any Chinese restaurant I go to, Pork Asado (or sweet pork) MUST always be on the table. This dish tasted so good. Of course, the one I enjoyed the most was in a Chinese restaurant in Singapore. This one's still a winner though.
